I read a lot of competent technical reviews about this product before I bought it but, if you’re like me and you hanker for the days when the choices on the back of a camera were ‘mountain’ or ‘flower’, they can go off into too much detail
This little camera is perfect for us amateur ‘auto-photograpers’. The quality of output is excellent and the only thing you can genuinely mess up is the composition. They’ve even managed to deal with camera-shake. It’s light, but not so light that you’ll forget you’ve got it. It switches on in under a second so you don’t miss those opportunistic shots. The controls on the back are pretty simple and the preview screen is nice and large. This model replaced a top-of-the-range Powershot circa 2001 and, given the reasonable price, the difference is staggering.
As well as the presets there is also the option to programme the camera for a specific setting. Let’s see now….. mountain?…. or flower?…..

Takes AA batteries, a hard to find feature now. IMHO a camera that doesn’t take AA batteries is unfit to be a travel camera.
The Canon replacements are either (1) fatter but still with AA batteries, or (2) have a silly and annoying automatic pop-up flash.
As I said, buy it while you can. Becasue it is superceded there are some good deals on this if you look.

Firstly, I am no camera expert. I love taking photo’s but am a point and shoot kinda gal. Its super simple to use. Great face recognition feature and the zoom on it is the best of its kind I’ve experienced. I’ve taken some wonderful snaps already on it. Really pleased with it so far…

Bought this camera to replace my old Sony cybershot, which a theiving little scumbag decided to releive me of, I had done a lot of research and this one seemed to fit the bill, it uses AA batteries or rechargables which means if your batteries do run out you will not have to look to far to buy replacements. I also wanted a camera that uses SD card (fits straight into TV) rather than the Sony memory stick. It also has an exellent optical zoom and I have taken some great shots. But.. the one thing that lets this otherwise excellent camera down is that it does not have the facility to trim the images, I used this a lot on my old Sony and am really disappointed that this one doesn’t do it. I am not an expert but I cannot see the point in having a digital zoom on a camera if you cannot save the zoomed in image. For me this lets the camera down. It will probably end up on ebay
