Firstly, this lens is not going to win any awards for high quality.
However, having dispensed with the negative, it has a lot going for it.
I bought this to indulge my current fad for producing web panoramas – and being reluctant to spend ten times the price for something which might be gathering dust in 3 months, this is an excellent compromise.
Delivery from the supplier was within 3 working days, and included a USEFUL free gift rather than a token gesture – they have really got their act together!
In summary, a very good, acceptable and usable lens to dip your toe in the waters of fisheye / panoramic photography. Should you subsequently decide to swim a little further out, you might want to spend a bit more.

This is a great little lens, perfect for those just wishing to dip into the world of experimental photography. Its great for outside and inside. But there is one drawback i have found whilst using it. If you wish to use the pop up flash on your camera, due to the sheer length on the lens’ it creates a shadow which is quite annoying. But if you use an external flash its fine really. So apart from that its a great little toy to play around with.

Hello Team, Just been doing some test shots of my new “Fisheye” which arrived in 2 days from 47th Street Photo by FedEx this morning and what seems customary, it came with a 10 piece free gift which even included a mini tripod, wow what a company. I took some shots using the Canon 18 – 55mm lens which came with the 500D, set at the 18mm end, I then added the Opteka Fiseye, which screws onto the filter thread by means of the supplied 52 to 58 ring and took the same views. The resulting shots show no deterioration in image quality from those taken using the Canon lens on it’s own. A great lens at a great price. I will be ordering further Opteka products. This is a great product if you want to do fish eye effect photos. On max zoom the picture become a “bubble” on my 18-55 lens but this to be expected as this is attachment to the lens rather than lens on its own right.
Otherwise great effect and if you compare the price, well worth it. The service from 47st photo is absolutely great, got delivered to uk within 2 days. Thanks guys.

Basically a filter, it works ok and gives the fish eye effect but the quality isn’t great and it suffers from colour distortion big time on the edges. But I guess it’s ok for the price but don’t expect amazing works of art to be made by it. Having said that it works well in black and white.
