Sigma 18-250mm F3.5-6.3 DC HSM Optical Stabilised Lens for Canon Digital SLR Cameras
- Kompaktes Universalzoom
Bought this lens as had purchased the Nikon 18-200 a year back and was so un-impressed with that I sold it a month after I bought it. Still seeking a ‘do-it-all’ lens that saves hunking lots of lenses about and read good reviews for this Sigma. And they were right too. Great central definition, pretty good to the edges and close to prime abilities in the mid f-numbers. Image stabilisation is good (not quite as slick as the Nikon but the effect is the same) and focussing is quick and fairly quiet. Low light/low contrast shots does upset the auto-focus occasionally but not a major issue and a rare occurrence. Super wide abilities frankly stunning for a super-zoom and the long range end is acceptable for all but ultra critical work (for which I have a have the 70-200 pro Nikon… which if I am honest has been in the bottom drawer since I got this Sigma.) Overall very pleased with the lens and it is so much better than the more expensive 18-200 Nikon in almost every way. It even feels better built, despite being 2/3rds of the price too! Bargain.

Purchased this lens to eliminate the need to carry several lenses as we were going on a cruise. Lens performed very well with great pictures. Only small problem was an intermittent error message on my D70 camera which indicated that the camera wasn’t communicating with the lens properly (F–). I suspect this is down to the contacts on the camera as I tried it on my friends D200 with no problems. The D70 is pretty old now and is going to be replaced by a D300s shortly. The only other issue was the image stabilization that seemed to be a bit hit or miss in operation. But this didn’t affect the performance of the lens. I would recommend it.
