This was a gift for my partner and it’s a great looking product with a lot of functionality for a pocket-sized device. We are happy with the speed of start-up, picture quality and convenience. BUT you can’t really use it anywhere except in good strong sunlight. Even in a well-lit room, where my digital still camera works perfectly, it has trouble.

I am a bit of a Sony fan and when I saw this product was due for release end March I decided to wait for it rather than go for an alternative.
What a disappointment. Outdoors it is useless. With the screen at high brightness it is still not possible to see. The pictures it did manage to shoot though were poor colours and contrast
I used it indoors last night at a concert. I admit it is a taxing environment but the camera kept cutting out leaving no readable recording. I came away with one 2 minute clip. All the rest were unreadable. The clip I got highlighted just how poor this is.
I’m not sure about why the errors occurred. My theory is the image stabiliser software isn’t man enough to cope with high zooms and camera shake and just gives up.
Anyway it’s going back in the post this afternoon and I’ll take a look for a better alternative.

For the money this camera can’t be faulted. Excellent 1080/720P filming with above average sound quality. I used it to film my band in a fairly dark hall and was amazed how good it was.
It will never compete with high end camcorders but for those on a budget who want to capture memories or just have fun this is ideal.

I have bought this camera just recently after hearing about it!! The indoor testing videos, including some in low-light, were fine and the still images are okay! My main problem with it though is the blur and the lack of focus!! I shot some videos at a dance show and the blur was just annoying!! You see everytime I zoomed, the camera needed to search for the focus point and if the lights are really low, it just can’t find it! However, towards the end of the show I managed to solve the problem, sort of at least, by not changing the zoom during the dances after I find the optimal one! Overall, I think if you are looking for something of high quality, you need to raise your budget bar because this camera comes at a cheap price so don’t expect magical results! However, I have to say that it does job if you learn how to use it properly!
