Have you ever watched the likes of Watchdog and marveled at the ‘secret recording’ portions. Now how on earth do they manage that you wonder, as you attempt to tuck your transit van sized video camera under your shirt. Now, of course, in these days of producer-consumers (that’s you, by the way), one can take complete control and become a veritable cameraman anywhere, anytime. Introducing the Veho Muvi Atom – a rather cute name for a rather cute product. But don’t be fooled by its innocent size. Measuring just 4cm tall, the Muvi Atom is the smallest digital video camcorder in the world. With 2 Mega Pixel recording image quality is not compromised. This little beauty ‘mounts’ (for that is the phrase) to almost anywhere with the help of a full array of mounting, clamping and fastening accessories. For example we would strongly advise against holding a camera whilst you are jumping out of a plane. Or skiing down a mountain. Or climbing the Grand Canyon. But, naturally, if you are doing … more >>

Review by Mr. J. Oliver for Veho VCC-004-ATOM Muvi Atom Super Micro DV Camcorder – Black
Rating:
I bought this camcorder after previously purchasing the standard “Muvi” (see previous review). After hearing that this model has a higher frame rate, is smaller and has a snapshot function I thought I’d upgrade….!
I cant see how the first reviewer gave this one star! This camcorder is fantastic! For such a tiny size it gives amazing video quality (30 frames per second) and the stills it takes are great as well. Im a keen mountain biker so I take this out whenever I can, this model of Muvi comes with all the straps neccesary to mount it on your handlebars so its just a case of putting it in the mount and off you go!
The Atoms compact size hasn’t compromised on its durability. Its feels really solid to touch and having already dropped it a couple of times its still in one piece!
At the same time I bought this I also purchased a Veho Pebble Veho VCC-A007-PBP Pebble 5000mAH Portable Battery Pack Charger for iPod, iPhone, Mobile Phones and PSP. Great for when you’ve run out of battery whilst on the go.
All in all great fun!

After receiving the Veho Muvi Micro DV Camcorder I could not wait to test it.
Firstly I put it on charge. The manufacturer instructions say it takes 2 hours to fully charge, then the Red LED light goes out after charging is complete. This is not so on the model I received. After 4 hours on charge, the red LED was still alight, so I decided that it had plenty of time to charge fully, so I disconnected it.
I then tested the unit for recording quality. In daylight & bright electric light the unit gave very good picture quality. In street lighting conditions during the night time, the unit still gave adequate viewing quality, although as the unit was moved into darker shadowy condtions, obviously the the picture became more grainy which was to be expected.
I found the sound quality to be listenable, but there seems to be some sort of broken up hissing sound in the background, probably due to a low quality audio recording rate.
Over all though, I found this device to be well worth the price in its build quality, which feels quite rugged, and picture-wise it is quite acceptable.
I have give the Muvi Micro DV Camcorder 4 Stars instead of 5, due to the failure of the charging light to go out after charging is complete & the fairly low audio quality. This is still a recommended buy though.

I thought I would give the Atom a go after reading and watching lots of reviews on its bigger brother the Micro and thought it would be worth it. It took me an entire 15 min to decide it was not.
Pros:
- The few videos and snaps I took was real good quality and matched what I saw on all the reviews of the bigger model.
- Apparently it can take up to a 16gb micro sd, at 1gb per 30 min so up to 8 hours recording battery permitting)
Cons:
- Biggest problem that made me return it the next day, Even though the body of the unit itself feels sturdy and good quality the power switch and vox switch was very flimsy and it felt like it is bound to snag on something and snap off.
- According to the manual the battery will only last an hour but did not own it long enough to confirm.
- Controls are intricate need to know what short flashing, fast flashing or number of red or green flashes mean. I know its added functionality but you need to keep this in mind if you are considering buying one.
- Need to have all the switches in the right positions to download your photos, not big thing but took me a while to figure out.
- Even though it came with loads of brackets and straps as standard could not find a bracket that would work just right for my intended application. Some of the brackets have limited adjustability.
Overall did not want to sound to negative. Watching and reading all the reviews of the Micro I had real high expectations and it just did not quite live up to it.
